Here’s what’s on the workbench. Plans can change, and nothing here is final until it’s in the app.

  • Testing on Android

    Well Versed is in testing ahead of launch, through the Google Play Store. That means it’s only open to Android phones and tablets for now. Got an Android device and want to play early and help find bugs? Send an email and you can join the testers!

    • Start with 1,000 free coins to spend in the Shop.
    • Play 14 days in a row to unlock Pioneer, a profile frame only testers can get.

  • One daily word for everyone

    Every player will get the same daily word, so you can compare how you did with friends. Right now it can differ from phone to phone.

  • Fixes from tester feedback

    Thanks to everyone who’s sent in reports. Here’s what’s being fixed next:

    • No repeat words Each word shows up once per pack, and levels start with the easiest words.
    • Keyboard on small phones The keys resize with your screen, so ENTER and delete always fit.
    • Clearer popups Buying hints, locked game modes, and the Shop get proper popups instead of plain alerts.

  • More word packs

    There are 50 packs right now. New ones are added in batches, and the existing packs keep growing so each one lasts longer.

  • Shop purchases

    The Shop will sell coin packs and bundles for anyone who wants a head start. Coins still come from playing, just like now.

Up next

  • Launching on Google Play

    Once testing wraps up, Well Versed goes live on the Google Play Store for anyone with an Android phone or tablet.

  • Coming to the App Store

    Well Versed is headed to the App Store, so you’ll be able to play on iPhone and iPad.

  • New game modes

    Five new ways to play, all using the words from the packs you already have. You can see them waiting, locked, in the Modes tab. Endless comes first, since Time Attack and the Weekly Ladder build on it.

    • Endless Back-to-back puzzles from one big word pool. Keep going as long as you can.
    • Time Attack Solve as many puzzles as you can before the timer runs out.
    • Weekly Ladder A new ladder every week, with each rung harder than the last. See how high you get before it resets.
    • Hard Mode Letter-position hints are off, so every guess tells you less.
    • Practice Play as much as you want with no coins or streak on the line.

  • More ways to sign in

    Cloud saving only works with a Google account right now. Apple and Facebook sign-in are next, so you can use the same account on any device!

  • Alerts when you finish a goal or unlock something new
  • Locked packs open one at a time as you clear levels
  • Screens that hold up at the largest text sizes
  • Tap a tile, then type, and the letter lands right in that spot
  • Wrong-position warnings as you type, in Settings → Accessibility
